Injection Molding Machine: Introduction & working Process

What is Plastic Injection Molding machine:

Plastic injection molding or injection molding Machine is to make require shape by using mould include high pressurized Melton Plastic metal. The melton plastic may be as thermoplastic Material and inject to image cavity part (Mould or Die) to take small time and product released by using ejector pin.

Injection Molding Types:

  • plunger type injector Molding
  • reciprocating screw type
  • Injection moulding for Thermosets

Main Parts in Injection Molding Machine:

The following Parts in Injection Moulding Machine. They are

  • Melton Metal (thermoplastic such as polystyrene, nylon, polypropylene and polythene)
  • Hopper (moulding material load)
  • Heater Bands or Heating Parts (To raise Temperature 150°C to 370°C.)
  • Archimedes Screw (Rotate and make pressurized melton mental and pass to mould process)
  • Fixed Mould Tool (not Movable)
  • Moving Platern (Movable Part)

Plastic Injection Molding Process:

The Melton metal are polystyrene, nylon, polypropylene and polythene in this process. The material stored in Hopper Part and passed to Archimedes Screw. Now Screw Part is Rotate by using electric Motor or Hydraulic Drive. The Metals are heated by using Heater Bands to raise the minimum temperature at 150°C and Maximum temperature at 370°C. So The Solid Metal will be converted to Melton Metal (heated material  is called thermoplastics) . The Archimedes Screw continuously rotated together then Melton metal pressure to be increased and send to Mould Section Process. The Mould Part having two part, one is fixed another one is movable. The metal insert in this image cavity (Required shape of the product) and cool the product to take small time. After the product released by using ejector pin. Repeat the process Continuously to increase the mass production for same shape. The Various Shape of product to change the Mould (die) shape.

Advantages And Disadvantages:

Advantages:

  • Mass Production
  • Design Flexibility
  • Produce the complex product in different shapes and designs
  • Labor Cost will be low
  • Waste of Material Very Low

Disadvantages:

  • Cost will be high
  • Maintenance Schedule will be tough
  • Design of Mold require for every shape

Applications of plastic injection Molding Parts Manufacture:

  • Mechanical Parts (Gears)
  • automotive parts and components
  • storage containers
  • tables
  • wire spools
  • bottle caps
